Another eeek!

The Zen String co-op is all finished, ordered, and paid for… to the tune of $2416!!

Gosh that is kind of scary! I’m really excited though… now I get to wait impatiently for the yarn! :P

It should look somewhat like this..

That was from her last co-op :)

Wheel Ordered!

posted Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

I ordered my Rose through Copper Moose since he had the best price on his website (which was less than he has it listed for on ebay?) and the payment has been processed (I see it pending in my online banking!!), and he emailed me to let me know he’d update me with an estimated shipping time when he heard back from Majacraft, so yay!. And I get 2lbs of corredale cross for free too ;) I had planned to order the wheel from the woolery but their price was $10 more and I didn’t want either the bag discount OR the 1lb of coopworth (ick) so I was looking through other vendors for the best deal and the best freebie… and copper moose was it :) I like ordering from Bill though – I bought my drum carder from him last summer.

Yipee!! Now the waiting impatiently part can begin!

Eeek!

I’m doing it.. I’m selling my Ashford Traditional *gasp*. I found someone to buy it at the price I want to sell it, and it will be leaving me TODAY! Ack! I’ve also found someone (else) who may want my Woolee Winder, so it looks like that is taken care of as well.

Given that my last couple of spinning projects have actually been done on my Hitchhiker, I don’t think that I’ll miss my traddy much before I get a replacement.. but yikes! My plan now is to buy a Majacraft Rose but even if I ordered it today, it will take a couple of weeks to get to me. I had found one for a great price but the seller is sure it is already sold – with a few backups, but that’s ok, I’ll have the “thrill” of getting a BRAND NEW wheel again – woohoo!

But uh, yeah, EEEK!

I think I’ll stick to dyeing my own..

I decided to card and spin some dyed kid mohair locks I bought several weeks ago becuase spinning from the (teased) locks just wasn’t working well (I didn’t like how it was turning out)… that and I wanted to blend the colors and I figured what better way than on the drum carder

But now my hands are BLUE! Ugh!

Sorry but that just makes me angry… I dye fiber and yarn all the time and this NEVER happens to me… why would someone selling dyed fiber not dye their stuff better than this? It’s not like it was even very intense/dark colors either, yet here I sit with dyed fingertips, from teasing and carding only about an ounce and a half! I’m almost afraid to see what’s going to happen when I wash this when it’s done – I’m tempted to nuke it with some vinegar first.

Bleh. On the bright side it is spinning up much much better for me now 8) The final batt is a blend of blues and greens – it looks spiffy! (and you can see that the fiber is NOT so dark that one might expect some degree of dye transferrance… my hands are darker than the fiber!)
