Lace + Late at Night = Scary!

posted Monday, February 5th, 2007 by Sarah

So I was trying to make a little bit of progress on my Forest Canopy Shoulder Shawl last night, and I muddled through 3 rows with many mistakes before I figured it might be a good idea to give up for the night! I’m hoping those mistakes won’t really show once it’s all done.. I’ve got it all evened out now so that I have the right # of stitches in the right place again, but oops!

On the bright side though, I am actually making progress :D Not sure when I’ll be finished though.. depends on how big I decide to make it, since I realized that the pattern isn’t meant to be as big as I’d have wanted so I have to add to it a little.

You can’t really see the pattern since I didn’t stretch it out, but I totally love the colors :) The yarn is Schaefer’s Anne, I’m not sure of the colorway as that tag was missing when I bought the yarn.

  2. First, I just have to comment — I LOVE that yarn! The colors are beautiful! I can’t wait to see the finished product.

Honestly, I had quite a few errors — one REALLY bad one along the side… and they aren’t really noticeable at all. My guess is, part of it depends on where they are. But honestly, it’s like my husband usually tells me; you’re probably the only one who will see them! He learned this lesson this past summer while rebuilding our deck (he still complains about it’s “flaws”!)

  3. See, I told you that yarn was just sitting there, taunting me! LOL! I don’t think the mistakes will be that noticable. I can see where there were at least 2 yarn overs that I missed  but I don’t think the average lay-person would be able to spot them. Another lace knitting, perhaps, but it depends on how closely they are looking, KWIM?

  4. Lovely yarn! I sympathize about tyring to knit lace at night, I’m currently working on Swallowtail in BLACK!
