Look what came today! I ordered this not quite two weeks ago (I think it’s two weeks tomorrow?) from Crazy Monkey Creations.. and it was custom built for me last week, and shipped to me on Thursday! Talk about FAST service for something built to order
I ordered the 2 yard electric model. It’s not enormous either – which means it will be easy to keep out of the way when I’m not using it, unlike my PVC monster.

It is beyond fabulous.. beautifully designed and beautifully crafted, and much much much better than my super cheap PVC skeiner that I kept whacking my hand on while skeining
I love the “fingers” on the arms.. so graceful. I think that’s my favorite part (well, after the whole being electric bit)! There are marks on the arms to easily measure out 1 yard, 1.5 yard, and 2 yard skeins, but you can go anywhere inbetween there, even smaller and a little bit bigger. There are little clips on two of the arms to hold your yarn too – no more tying knots, and the clips actually hold VERY well!

And I repurposed parts of my old skeiner.. to make a yarn mast to assist in winding cones! Since the skeiner goes faster than I could ever hope to safely hold the yarn to guide it off the cone, this was sort of necessary. I am going to redesign it a bit when I feel like cutting the PVC to work better, and then I plan on filling it with plaster to weigh it down and stop it from wobbling, but even considering that, it still worked very well (oh yeah, and the scale… that’s how I measure skeins.. shh!)

After assembling it (took about 5 minutes), in less than 10 minutes I had skeined nearly 2lbs of BFL, and 2 4oz skeins of laceweight. Yeah, I think this is an improvement – all that would have taken me well over an hour before!

Well, some of it. I dyed a bunch of yarn and fiber for my mom too, which she took home with her, and I didn’t get pictures of. It seemed like so much yarn until I put it in a box… now, not so much

However, I broke ANOTHER peg on my skeiner though (after improvising a solution for the first broken peg), so this is missing a few skeins, but I just can’t take much more of winding into balls first and then reskeining on my swift, so I’ve stopped for now.
I have a few other colorways I want to dye up, but as I’m unable at the moment to skein up any yarn at the moment, that is on hold, and a lot of fiber that needs to be soaked… but I may just wait on that until next weekend.
I think I’m going to attempt to make a PVC skeiner…. we’ll see how that works out

I finished these a bit over a week ago for a friend of mine online. I love how they came out..

I also finished my sister’s socks (and iPhone sock) but as they are currently on their way to her, and she won’t get them for a few days yet, I’m only posting a B&W picture of them.. because I can’t spoil the surprise for her

I dyed up some playsilks for my kids… which was fun, and I’m super thrilled with how they came out.

I also dyed a TON of yarn over the weekend, but no pics of that quite yet.. I want to be able to get them all photographed together, but I broke one of the pegs on my skeiner, so until I either figure something else out or get a replacement for it, that is put on hold for a while.
I also lots of yarn in the mail this past week… some really awesome stuff from my friend Lamar at …a time to dye – I got some of the much coveted new colorway “Andrew” (with trim!) on Rambouillet in exchange for knitting said Andrew a pair of shorties, and a really fun colorway called “Kindness” on beaverslide.

Then from Leidy at Western Sky Knits, a colorway called “Happy” on Cestari Fine Merino. I think it will make an absolutely gorgeous pair of shorties for Odin.

And because it looked like a lot of fun, I got some of the new Noro Kureyon Sock yarn..

Not sure when I’ll get around to making anything with either of those, but they’re a welcome addition to the stash, regardless

(yes I know I’m cheating with the timestamp – HUSH!!!)
I dyed this up on 3ply 100purewool as a custom for one of my online friends
It has matching trim too, but I didn’t get a pic of that before I got it all ready to ship.

Aptly named “Valentine” -I absolutely love how this came out! I’ll be dyeing some more for myelf once I get some more base yarn. Right now I pretty much have nothing left to dye in the house but fiber
